Senior Software Engineer, Test (Remote)

Astronomer is looking for an engineer with a passion for leveraging test automation to deliver high-quality solutions to the market.  Help us “shift left” by leveraging our learning culture, cutting edge tools, frameworks, design patterns, and our team-oriented processes. As a part of the Quality Assurance team, you will also ensure that the team is made aware of new technology, tools, and trends within the industry and influence adoption where appropriate.

What you get to do

  • Play a major role in working with our global teams and collaborating on all testing efforts.
  • Contribute to building and enhancing component level frameworks.
  • Work with the developers through the code to identify bugs at an early stage.
  • Be an active part of the agile scrum teams.
  • Influence feature development, and improve product quality and customer experience.
  • Effectively manage and consolidate multiple tasks with different teams.
  • Design plans for effective CI/CD pipelines and work with SREs to implement them.
  • Focus on code coverage and code complexity.

What you bring to the role

  • Skilled in developing software/frameworks. 
  • Experience building mock services for component/integration frameworks.
  • Strong Go and/or Python Programming skills. 
  • Hands-on experience automating API(REST).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Containers.
  • Strength in debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with GIT, PostGres, Shell Scripting.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure) and services.
  • Hands on experience automating cloud infrastructure.

Bonus points if you have

  • 5+ years of professional experience developing software/frameworks. 
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, preferably with distributed software development or data science major.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills. 
  • Automation-first approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to adapt to short sprint cycles (2 weeks).
  • Passion for coding and can-do attitude towards any complex tasks.
  • Excellent team player with strong work ethics and culture.
  • Excellent Analytical & communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle competing priority tasks.
